Looking towards the future semester, I'm hoping to have some guidance towards a streamlined way to complete my capstone. When I think of completing this program, I want to have support and guidance so that I can feel good about my experience. What I don't want to experience is a bunch of work that will have me spinning into circles. I think streamlined is the word that I will see to what I want out of this program, just like the work that I will want to use in my classroom. I look forward to the new school year!
As I'm reflecting about my journey through this summer semester, I'm still not sure if I have become a more innovative teacher. I do have some tech tools under my belt, and I do have a project to incorporate into my new class for reading, but is this whole process going to steer me closer to becoming innovative? Some challenges that I may face moving forward could be the push back from other teachers . We do have to follow a certain curriculum, and the thought of me trying to convince others to try some tech tools for fluency may be a bit scary or unnecessary in their opinion, they might think why fix our method if it works?

I can see your concerns about whether or not you have become an innovative teacher. However, just like Dr. King and Ghandi once said, it only takes one person to start a fire. You can be that fire that sparks interest and start a new way of teaching at your site. It will take courage, determination, and hard work, but these are all things you have already exemplified during the first two semesters in our cohort.

I have to say first I agree with your last paragraph. Streamlined is the perfect word for what we need. Second I understand your concerns about introducing some of these tech tools to other teachers. I have the same fears that they won't be well received and be perceived as unnecessary. I'm personally am going to say technology is our students future and i understand it's hard teaching them about something that they probably already know more about than us, but we shouldn't hold them back because we are stuck in the past.

It's such a shame that there are concerns about sharing what tech tools you've learned with other teachers. In this day and age, any teachers who don't want to embrace technology need to be out of the classroom if they are not willing to help their students move toward a 21st century environment. James has a good point about it only takes on person. If others are resisting changes, then keep pushing through to show them why it's so important to embrace new changes for our students. You can very well easily be the one to bring your school into the new century!
